SHEFFIELD STEELERS OPEN GROTTO...
Santa came up close and personal with his fellow ice hero’s this week when three of the Sheffield Steelers officially opened Santa’s Grotto on the Lower Mall.
The Centre came ‘face off to face off’ with the hugely admired ice-star line up, which featured ‘on the money’ Goalie, Jody Lehman, second season veteran and top goal scorer Ian Manzano, along with Head Coach, David Matsos, cozying up to their fellow frosty friend from the North Pole. Fans young and old alike, came to meet the ever popular and friendly players to gain autographs and photos and help make the event a truly memorable Christmas family puck stop. Grotto Organiser, Judith Cowie, from Christmas Crew commented, “ I’m absolutely delighted that three top names from the world of professional ice hockey have been here, live and in person, to launch the Crystal Peaks’ Grotto. All profits will go to the Centre’s nominated annual charity “The Cathedral Archer Project” to aid Sheffield’s homeless and will buy much needed foodstuffs and clothing for the less fortunate amongst us.” She added, “There will be a real sense of festive community spirit here at the Grotto right up to Christmas Eve. There are fantastic festive lights and decorations plus all the sights and sounds of the Centre’s themed animation with Blizzard the Yeti and side kick Snowball – singing, wise cracking and guiding you through the festive period, making the Peaks a real cracker of a place at this most wonderful time of the year!”
