‘ROBOT TITAN’ WAS GIANT CROWD PULLER AT CRYSTAL PEAKS !
On a wet Bank Holiday Monday (28/05) you wouldn’t expect an ultra modern 8-foot towering robot to be both scary and comical at the same time – yet the futuristic metallic clanking sounds and stunning blue fluorescent body lighting of this sparkling silver alien cyborg had thousands of fans going wild, when ‘Titan the Robot’ came to Sheffield to thrill and entertain - arriving on the back of his very own Docking Station.
He rocked the very foundations of Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre both internally and externally, in three gripping and spectacular space age shows throughout the day. “He’s been incredible, and very credible for on-lookers, with his body language, movement, stance, song and dance routines and menacing vocal interaction. He seemed to be straight out of Sci-Fi films like ‘Star Wars’ with C-3PO, ‘Robocop’ and Gort in ‘The Day The Earth Stood Still’ all mixed into one!” Commented Centre Manager Chris Jones, “At first I thought he’d be more like the “carbot” from the TV. car commercials but once disembarkation began, ‘Titan’ became a highly sophisticated, colossal transformer toy, and so well designed that no leap of imagination was required. He’s designed for tomorrow’s generation to highlight the dynamics and agility of robots in a vastly entertaining way. ‘Titan’ made us believe that a beautiful state-of-the-art robot was actually cruising down the malls complete with a thunderous 21st Century sound system and ensuing special effects. The displays have been really heart stopping!” He added, “We pride ourselves on bringing extraordinary and outstanding performers to the Centre – and this showcase has been no exception. He’s headlined all over Europe so it’s been yet another amazing undercover event right here on our doorstep, and fortunately one the weather couldn’t spoil, but now sadly it’s is time to be beamed back up to the Management Suite for a taste of reality!”
• To mark the event, there are free “Phasers for Lasers” competition leaflets to pick up from stores and the Customer Care Desk based in the Central Atrium until Saturday 2nd June – with 5 free iPod Shuffles up for grabs (one given away each day from 29th May) with a choice of colour and laser engraving chosen by each winner.
