POSTMAN PAT® AT CRYSTAL PEAKS POST OFFICE LAUNCH…
All elements working together had a very real pat on the back recently, when the brand new Post Office, situated in The Market Place at Crystal Peaks, opened it’s doors for business!
The fictitious village of Greendale’s most famous postman and larger than life character – Postman Pat® and Jess the Cat® officially launched the brand new home of the Sheffield Shopping Centre’s Post Office - after months of negotiations. He was a first-class celebrity and proved to be a firm ‘meet and greet’ favourite in the hearts of the local community’s youngsters – including their Mums and Dads. Richard Jackson New Sub Postmaster said, “I’m delighted to have found a permanent base for the Post Office which has been housed in a temporary building for two years. It’s taken nearly twelve months of negotiations to reach such a positive outcome and thankfully we can continue to provide these much-needed facilities for our local community. To my knowledge it will be the first ever Post Office to be sited within an Indoor Market and be trading 7 Days a week, to which Sheffield City Council are to be congratulated on achieving. Hopefully this will create an increased interest in the Markets that will be beneficial to all existing and new traders.” He added, “It’s fitting and exciting that top BBC Children’s Television character and one of the worlds most high profile and friendly postman, Pat Clifton, was here at our open day. Post Mistress Mrs Goggins® would be proud of this special delivery!” Member of Parliament for Sheffield Attercliffe, Clive Betts, was delighted that a solution had been found and commented, “I would like to thank all concerned for making this happen so we can continue to provide much needed facilities for the community.”
