NEW BAG RAISES EVEN MORE FOR CHARITY AT CRYSTAL PEAKS

A Sheffield fundraising scheme which sells environmentally friendly bags for charity has launched a new range… with the help of the Lord Mayor of Sheffield and a Sheffield Shopping Centre! Chariband™ – set up by Loxley mum Glenda Kirby – sell a range of eco friendly reusable bags called Charibags, with the primary aim to raise funds for Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity.

Since being launched last November, under the banner of ‘Sheffielders CARE’ over £14,000 has been raised for the hospital charity and participating Sheffield schools. And now Glenda has launched a new look bag, with the slogan ‘Charibags help the environment and Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity’ to spread the word even further across the region that the hospital serves. The Lord Mayor of Sheffield Cllr Arthur Dunworth joined Glenda, local children, parents and the Hospital’s cuddly mascot, Theo the Bear, to launch the new style charibags at award winning Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre. The new charibags come in a range of eight vibrant colours and are available as shoppers and mini sized shoppers for the kids. Says Glenda: “My son, Chester, was rushed in to the children’s hospital last year with breathing problems and the doctors literally saved his life. My partner, Mel, and I just wanted to give something back to those that had helped us, so we came up with this idea for a recyclable bag that we can sell to raise money for the hospital and help the environment.”“We are now looking to sell the new bags throughout the area that Sheffield Children’s Hospital covers including the rest of South Yorkshire and parts of North Derbyshire in the hope that we can achieve our target of raising £50,000 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital. Following the recent floods in South Yorkshire we have agreed with the hospital to divert monies from the School Fund to South Yorkshire Flood Disaster Relief Fund from every charibag sold, with immediate effect.”Charibags are £2-£3 with 25p being diverted from the School Fund to the South Yorkshire Flood Disaster Relief Fund, all remaining net profits go to Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity  Want to get involved?
