Jackie Drayton popped into the award-winning Sheffield Shopping Centre and became one of the prestigious judges to choose the outright victors from over 20 local schools exhibiting hundreds of 2006 FIFA World Cup flags, which were flying high in shop windows in the Centre’s West Mall. It always feels good to be on the side of a winning line-up, so very well done Birley Primary!” Centre Manager, Chris Jones commented, “It’s nice to have a sporting legend like Chris to present them with their prize, he’s a true sportsman and a gentleman. It’s helped to make their day. It was also a true delight to see the interaction of numerous schools, their forms and children all working together on a highly educational project that encompassed not only colouring the teams’ national flags but also featured on the back, insights into those countries geography, currency, demographics and economy. I hope they increased the children’s knowledge and understanding of the wider world around us whilst creating some topical fun and kicking off some more exploration.”
