DEBBIE DROPS IN FOR NEUROCARE

The big jump is on for plucky young daredevil Debbie Hattersley, from Woodhouse as she plans to skydive 15,000 feet for Sheffield charity “Neurocare” and their ‘Brainwave Appeal’ on Sunday 13th August.

Fearless Debbie who works as an Administration Assistant in the Crystal Peaks Management Suite wanted to raise funds for the Shopping Centre’s newly adopted annual charity and thought leaping out of a twin turbine G92 Dornier Jumpship would do the trick. So, at 8.30 am from Hilbaldstow Airfield, near Brigg in North Lincolnshire she’ll get her own bird’s eye view of the world from her shared parachute.

Neurocare’s Brainwave Appeal, plans to raise £500,000 to purchase 3, 3D brain monitors called Sonowand Ultrasound Scanners – 1 for Sheffield Children’s Hospital and 2 for the neurosurgery operating theatres at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital. Both of these hospitals serve over 2.2 million people in the NHS North Trent region and they’ll be a first for Sheffield and the UK.

“Talk about taking the plunge and having a leap of faith. I’ve never ever done anything like this before but it’s always been something I've wanted to do. I just love challenges and have a strong head for heights and a terrific sense of adventure and more importantly, it’s for a great cause. I'm jumping with Target Skysports and I’ll freefall for approximately 60 seconds at speeds of up to 120mph, a pure adrenaline rush, then hopefully (!) my parachute will open for a 5 minute canopy ride back down to earth – with what may be a bump!”

She added, “I turned 30 in June so think I'm going through an early mid-life crisis! I was on the look out for something to spice up my summer and to do a life changing wild thing to tell my son when he gets a little older - and here it is! It’ll be an experience of a lifetime and they’ll be another kind of jumping when my feet touch the ground. Jumping for joy…!”
