A HAIR RAISING EFFORT FOR NSPCCWell-known retail character Adrian Stacey, from Burtons' Crystal Peaks went through the pain barrier last Friday (26th November) with a sponsored chest wax ! The have-a-go Deputy Manager has already 'plucked' himself over £200 in pledges and sponsorship after agreeing to take part in front of colleagues, shoppers and visitors to the popular Sheffield Centre. Dorothy Perkins and Burtons Manager, Sandra Moule said, "Fund loving Adrian (pun intended) will quite literally do anything for a good cause, all we had to do was ask! We’re so pleased the day was such a success and we’re already planning other events for this worthwhile cause during 2006. Our aim is to raise £10 milllion nationwide, and our boss, Arcadia's Philip Green has already pledged £3 million towards the target!" The new-improved 'gorgeous' Adrian (as he now calls himself) said, “Why would a seemingly sound, well-balanced man like me voluntarily put myself in harms way and in the hands of a lethal beauty therapist? The answer was charity, namely the NSPCC's 'Children's Charity'. I have to admit it really hurt, I am not sure that I will be doing it again for a very long time! Hopefully all of my colleagues who so kindly sponsored me, enjoyed seeing my few minutes of pain - I've had to put up with it all weekend, even now as I'm talking it's still tingling!"
Excluding the sponsored wax, employees raised another £450 on the day by 'Name The Rabbit' and a raffle with a star prize of a "Singing Christmas Tree" donated by Wilkinson's, along with more contributions coming in from free professional advice on manicures, pedicures, makeovers, facial, body and eye treatments all courtesy of Simon's Hairstyling of Orchard Lane, Beighton with their completley free 'Hair & Beauty Demonstrations' throughout the day featuring local beauticians Sarah Baxter and Julie King. -ends- for further information, please call: t: 01302 759696 m: 07973 676942 |
