SANTA'S LITTLE HELPERS....

When the under 10's from Hackenthorpe Warriors Football Club heard about Crystal Peak's "Giving Tree" seasonal charity request, they wanted to score an own goal and really 'kick start' the drive for presents! So all 18 boys donated a special 'wanted' gift, matched like-for-like by their parents, to become 36 offerings in total, which will go to less fortunate children who'll be waking up on Christmas morning in a refuge.

For the 4th year running Crystal Peaks’ has taken part in the 'Giving Tree' campaign – which was originally backed by TV's Esther Ranzen. For the last three years the Centre has worked closely with the refuge and carried on the good work.

Many of the children’s gifts have already come to the ‘Giving Tree’ (which is situated by the Customer Care Desk in the central atrium) thanks to thoughtful and caring shoppers but more were required to complete Santa's List!

As the football team’s Manager Terry Balfour from Westfield explained; "We saw the Centre displaying a 'Christmas Wish' poster on which children have written their gift requests, it was anything from a Barbie Doll to a Pogo Stick. So we got our Warriors to choose a particular gift to fit their hard earned and well saved pocket money! Having purchased the gift, they then passed it to Customer Care desk to ensure it is delivered in time for Christmas morning."

He added, “I think it'll make a huge difference to all Mum's and their kids on Christmas Day wherever they are. It's good to know someone cares. I think it's a fantastic scheme and I'm told over the past three years has been responsible for donating over 7,500 presents to children in South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire - who might not otherwise have received a gift at all. It makes me also very proud of the Hackenthorpe Warriors Football Club who play life's game and make a difference on and off the field."
