REACHING THEIR PEAKS IN FUND RAISING!

24 hours, 24 peaks, 1 goal - to finish! During the weekend of 10th and 11th September a team of 7 'desk bound' professional i.t. software writers from the financial services sector in Sheffield will be scaling new heights and undertake their toughest challenge to date by ascending a cumulative 13,300 feet and trekking over 31 gruelling miles of mountains in the Lake District to raise much needed funds for The National Deaf Children's Society.

The team, from Attentiv Systems based at Carbrook Hall Road plan to start from Buttermere and finish 24 hours later in Keswick after climbing Red Pike, Great Gable, Scafell, Bowfell, Helvellyn and Red Screes along with 18 other 'peaks' in between!

Appropriately, Shopping Centre Crystal 'Peaks' has helped to sponsor the venture and organiser Mark Sims, explained, "It's a mammoth challenge. The team and myself know only too well it will be physically demanding and very tough, as we'll be walking for a total of at least 17 hours with no rest. We have been training really hard for this, as we are well aware that conditions can be treacherous on the Lake District hills but we are all confident we will succeed. The plan is to raise at least 5000 pounds for The National Deaf Children's Society because parents face enormous challenges too not least in establishing good communications with their deaf children. I was also surprised to learn two babies are born deaf every single day in the UK so we want to do our bit to help to help improve their lives, be it providing audio equipment or aiding education." He added, "And we're not doing too bad - at the last count the total stood at £3386 - so we haven't quite reached our peak yet (sic) with at least 1600 to go - but like the challenge, I'm sure we'll get there!"
