Environment ”” Caring for our Customers and Visitors
Here at Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre we care about the Safety and Wellbeing of our customers and visitors. As part of our legal duty we have undertaken Risk Assessments and Surveys; in particular Fire Risk Assessments and DDA Survey (Disability Discrimination Act).We undertake regular inspections, and employ our own Maintenance Team to attend to issues as they arise. However we wish to exceed legal standards, and in order to do this we have also implemented other initiatives including:-
· Training our Customer Care Team in 1st Aid and Resuscitation.
· Provision of wheelchairs and children’s buggies.
· For your ‘convenience’ we provide toilets that are clean, and accessible by all our visitors. We have been awarded Loo of the Year for three consecutive years.
· Our Customer Care Team, Hygiene Team and Administrative Staff have been instructed and trained in Customer Service, and are available to assist in any way we can.
P Caring for our Environment
In a busy shopping centre; litter, dirt and debris can become not only an eyesore, but can present health risks, trip hazards and fire hazards. Our professionally trained Hygiene staff are dedicated to keeping Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre clean, tidy and free from trip and fire hazards. Specialised grounds contractors look after our planted areas, and the Centre maintains a number of wild areas that are left uncultivated with indigenous species of plant and trees to attract birds, bees and butterflies.
ü Caring for Our World
GLOBAL WARMING – GREENHOUSE GAS – CLIMATE CHANGE – CARBON FOOTPRINT
These are the phrases we see and here every day in the media.Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre is committed to reducing the impact it has on the environment. In addition to working with our tenants to maintain a Recycling Program, we also provide recycling facilities for the public.Even the waste that we cannot yet recycle is incinerated to provide heating for hospitals and other institutions.
Crystal Peaks Shopping Centre monitors the consumption of electricity, gas and water – not just by the Centre, but also by tenants. We can then use the information to introduce ways of reducing consumption, whilst maintaining a safe and comfortable environment for shoppers and staff.
· We need to keep our external and internal areas well-lit for customer safety and convenience, but wherever possible we use low wattage lighting.
· Gas is used to heat the Malls, and our systems are maintained and serviced to work as efficiently as possible.
· Water consumption is minimised by use of sensors in washrooms and toilets. We also expect our staff to turn off all taps and report any leaks. Initiatives we are exploring to reduce our Carbon Footprint include:-
· Training all staff and Tenants in Waste Management
· Installing a Public Information Board (so you can see how well we are performing)
· Possibility of a Wind Turbine
